BLACK WATER DEHYDRATION TECHNOLOGY

When human waste is dehydrated, the mass and volume of black water are greatly reduced and the pathogens are starved of moisture. Pathogen elimination cannot be totally achieved with this method. Dehydration will cease if the pile freezes. Most dehydrating toilets require prior separation of urine to allow sufficient drying of faeces. Toilet paper should be disposed of separately. Such systems are mainly suitable for regions with higher average temperatures, long dry and short rainy seasons or arid climatic conditions with high evaporation rates. Nevertheless, with supplemental heat, these systems can also work in a colder or more humid climate.
