The purpose of this project was to conduct a global search for wind turbine manufacturers with designs suitable for use in extreme weather conditions of alpine and high subalpine regions. WorleyParsons report lists five preferred wind turbine manufacturers with proven success in cold regions. Criteria included performance, reliability, cost, and maintenance in remote locations. The report also provides information on turbine basics, calculating power requirements, design considerations, incentives and rebates, wildlife concerns, aesthetics, social impacts, and regulatory requirements. In addition, the report provides a database of small wind turbine data that can assist in selecting an appropriate turbine for use in specific situations.
