• Identify technologies currently used at backcountry off-grid facilities in the mountainous regions of British Columbia and Alberta and in similar environments around the world.
• Facilitate research and develop solutions for energy, water and waste management systems in the backcountry.
• Accelerate the adoption of technological systems by demonstrating and assessing new technologies or modified applications of current technologies.
• Develop an information exchange system (knowledge network) to promote communication and increase the knowledge base.
• Keep BEES information system current to maintain its status as the leading source of backcountry energy and environment information.
• Advance best practices, operational guidelines and the development of environmental regulations specific to mountain environments.
• Improve environmental conditions, human health and visitor experiences.
